NOTD: Friday April 10 2009

My nails on Friday! I used the following two polishes: Revlon Glimmer Gloss in Strawberry Sizzle and Pure Ice in Oh Baby!

Two coats of each. Love of lovely shimmers. The SS has pink and purple (almost blue) shimmer and the OB! has kind of an iridescent green shimmer.

Up real close so you can see all the shimmers!
They are both sheers, so, of course, you can there is still a very distinct VPL.

Also, I broke my nails today, so they are much shorter now :-(

NOTD: Wednesday April 8 2009

This was so much fun and super easy to do. I just kept my purple mani from yesterday, and applied Icing's Marine Blue (green if you ask me) as french tips and polka dots.

This last picture, the color is off. A little blue-y. I was trying to get the color just right and went a little overboard. Oh well.

NOTD and FOTD: Tuesday April 7 2009

So, I didn't really think my FOTD deserved it's own post, but I wanted to post a pic anyway. I thought my skin looked particularly good today. Seriously, I am loving Everyday Minerals. So. Freaking. Much. Lovely. The lipstick is WnW #502A. It's a rosy mauve with gold shimmer. I have to say, for only costing $.99 I am loving WnW lipsticks!!!

Onto the nails. Well, I tried my new Maybelline Polish in Blushing Bride. There's nothing blushing about this color. This is two coats and still completely sheer. It would be good for a natural looking nail or a base for a French or American mani.
So, I didn't want to leave it at that, so I tossed this on top: a nameless Claire's purple neon that came in a set of five (including blue, orange, green, and yellow). This color is the most opaque out of all of them. This is three coats. This color is unbelievably fun! Like most neons, it dries matte, a finish I am growing to enjoy very much.

Price:
3 out of 5; it cost almost $11 in most drug stores. A bit steep, I think. Wait for a BOGO!
Packaging: 3.5 out of 5; I like the color and feel of the packaging, but it's nothing special.
Performance:
  • Volumizing: 2 out of 5;Lengthening: 5 out of 5; Defining: 5 out of 5
  • Clumping 5 out of 5; Flaking 5 out of 5; Smudging 5 out of 5
  • Fulfilling claims 5 out of 5

What I think:
This mascara is excellent for length, definition, and some serious staying power. I have a bad habit of rubbing my eyes and, naturally, when I do that my mascara just flakes right of and smudges all over my eye. Yuck. But today, I tested this mascara. I rubbed my eye and it didn't budge. I rubbed it again. Seriously? It did NOT move! Also, the length is pretty darn amazing. I was very impressed. However, it doesn't add any volume, and I'm a girl who desires long AND full lashes. I'm particular on the full lashes, because my lashes have a bit of length already.

Overall 4 out of 5; It's a really excellent mascara but, personally, I need some volume in my lashes.

Giveaway! I have two of these, so I'm going to give one away. Leave a comment with your email address. You must be a follower of my blog or a subscriber to my YouTube channel (if you are a subscriber on YouTube, leave your user name). I'll select someone in one week on Wednesday, April 15th. Or rather, Excel's random number generator will. I know I don't have a lot of followers, but I have two of these and I'm not going to use both of them. I'll also throw a few other things in there, not sure what yet.

(Sorry, Tiffers, no family members.)

NOTD: Monday April 6 2009

I was poking through some old polishes when I found this lovely lady. I do wish I had more pix, but all the others were terribly blurry. It's Maybelline Berry Boucle. A real pretty berry shimmery metallic kinda color. Did leave brush marks though. Oh well.

EOTD: Monday April 6 2009

This is titled "EOTD" and not "FOTD" because I forgot to take pix of the rest of my face. Actually, I don't remember what I used for blush. Used Everyday Minerals Sweet Almond Foundation and Abbott's Perk Me Up Concealer, if you're curious. I have pix of the lip products, but not pix of the lips.

The one word that came to mind with this EOTD was "romantic." It's such a soft, frosty, lovely look. But super simple!

Eye products:
Nars Eyeshadow duo in Elisa
Prestige Eyeshadow in Love
Covergirl Outlast liner in Onyx
Maybelline Volum' Express Turbo Boost Mascara in Very Black
Apply the Nars blue shade to the inner 2/3 of the lid. Prestige Love to the outer 1/3 and blend those two together. Apply the Nars purple shade to the highlight and the the center of your lid (on top of the ball of your eyeball, eww gross. I hope you understand what I mean.) Line lashes with the CG liner. Apply Prestiege Love over that on the outer 2/3. Nars blue shade to the inner 1/2 and blend the two together. Apply mascara.

Lip Products:
Nyx round lipstick in Georgia
ELF Super Glossy Lip Shine in Angel

NOTD: Saturday April 4 2009

Okay, so I was a little bored on Friday night. Can you tell? I drank too much of a caffeinated soda and was up all night. This is the result!

These are the colors I used. They are neon's by Claire's. Came in a pack that also included purple and blue (pix on the purple later. It's quite a gem.)

First, I applied the orange to opacity (I think three coats)

The orange looks a bit pinky when the light hits it a certain way. Enough so that I did a double take the first time I ever used this polish and thought "Pink?? I painted my nails orange." This is the only photo I had that picked it up in the slightest; sorry for the blurriness. (Is this what people mean by duochrome? Forgive my ignorance. This polish is orange in some lights and pink in others.)
Next, apply yellow to the tips. Opaque in 3 thin or 2 thick coats.

Next, take your dotting tool/paper clip/tooth pick/tiny brush and dot the green all over. This turned out very sheer. Oh well. I didn't want to put dots over my dots.

All in all, I am thoroughly satisfied with this mani. It's so much fun!!! Great time killer for the insomniac in you.
