FOTD: Saturday March 14 2009

On Saturday, Kevin and I went out to sushi with a bunch of friends for Kevin's birthday! Happy 22! Also, it was Pi day. I guess we would've gotten pie for desert, but they didn't have any. :-) Anyway, here is the makeup I did for the evening. Trying to do a tutorial here, so I took pictures as I did my makeup. Pic heavy!

Before I started taking photos, I had applied Mary Kay Signature Eye Primer and ELF Cream Shadow in Berry Mix (the lighter one) all over my lids.

Apply the HiP Crayon along the lower lash line (not terribly sure why I chose to do this first)

Using ELF eyeshadow in Drama, pick up some of the light gray. I'm using an "Eye Contour" brush from Face Secrets, carried at Sally Beauty Supply.

Apply all over lid

Pick up some of the sparkly black. I'm using a small eyeshadow brush (unknown brand)

Apply to the outer 1/2 of lid

Looks like this (sorry for blurriness)

Blend. Should look like this. You can make the outer 1/2 darker if you like, just pick up more of the sparkly black and blend it in.

Using the same black, with an angled eyeshadow brush:

Apply over the HiP Crayon liner

On second thought, I decided to do the same to the upper lid. Lined in with the HiP liner and applied the ELF sparkly black shadow over top of that.

So far:

Next, apply mascara. I'm using Jane Max Lash² in Black

First, use the white side, the primer:

When that dries, do two coats of the black side.

Finished eye look:

Next: highlight and bronzer

Apply the highlight along your cheek bones (in this it is the lighter two shades, I run the brush through both colors)

Next, apply the bronzer (darker two shades) to the hollows of your cheek. You can find this by sucking in your cheeks (which I'm doing, but you can't really tell).

For blush, I'm using ELF Blush in Glow (my favorite)

Start at the apple of your cheek, I always smile when I do this to emphasize my apple

And sweep up along cheek bones.

Apply lipstick:

Final step: Plenty of camwhoring!

Notice I look different than the first pic at the top of the post? I changed my shirt and put my hair 1/2 up.

FOTD: Wednesday Dec 24

My Christmas Eve FOTD. I only wore clear mascara today, like yesterday. I wanted to give my lashes a break. Also, to let you all know, I've been trying out Ardell Lash and Brow growth Accelerator lately. I'll do a post on it when I get back to school.

Anyway, products used:
The eyes: I put the color on very lightly, I didn't want a very dark eye today.

Note on the lips: the color in the stick looks red, but it's really a dark pink, I think. I put it on over concealer then blotted and it came out as a lighter pink. Very natural looking for my lips actually; just a dash pinker.

FOTD: Tuesday Dec 23

Today I do not have any close up photos of my eyes or lips or anything. The only full face shots I have were taken that night. Because today... the baby goats were born!!!! So the photos I have of my self are of me holding one of the kids. But I decided to do a FOTD anyway

Normal face stuff. Like I said in my last post, I'm trying to go with minimal coverage and see how it works out. It's still working here. (Not for long!!)

Eye products: I just got this HiP Duo from my sis. Can I say that I love the HiP shadows? I do I do. Anyway, this how the shadow was done today: Pink all over lids, define crease with the blue, highlight brow bone and inner corner with the Physician's Formula (cameo). I only used clear mascara today. I also used the brow gel side on my eyebrows. The look so much better when they're groomed.


Now for lips: why is concealer in this photo? Well, I've been experimenting with putting concealer on my lips before I put on lipstick to see how it changes the color. Largely, I like it. That's what I did here. Concealer, then lipstick, then gloss. That's a NYX lipstick in Georgia and ELF gloss in Angel.


Now, these are the only pix I have of myself from today. See the sweet goat! Awww. His name is Boba Fett. Hehehe. We had to feed him for the first day but after that, him mom fed him and he was OK. Anyway, my face is a bit shiny and I'm surprised I have any lip color left on at all, but that's probably thanks to the concealer holding it on. All the gloss is gone. The eyes still look good though.

My first tutorial

Okay, well Tiffany says I should do a tutorial. I don't really know how to do one, but here goes anyway.

Here are all the products I used. Some are probably harder to find, but you can use a substitute. Face: Physician's Formula Circle Rx in Soft Yellow, Amuse Foundation Stick in Medium Beige, Avon Translucent Loose Powder in Medium, E.L.F. Natural Radiance Blusher in Glow;
Eyes: Mary Kay Signature Eye Primer, L'Oreal HiP Color Rich Cream Eye Crayon in Attentive, Fresh Minerals Eye Shadow in Copper and Shell, Color Compact Charming Eyes Eyeshadow Trio, NYC Eyeliner Duet in Mockingbird, Covergirl Volume Exact mascara in Very Black;
Lips: Amuse Sweet Heart Lipstick in Orange Red.

So, of course, always begin with a clean face, moisturize your face.
First, I used Physician's Formula Circle Rx under my eyes to cover up any circles. Just dab the product under your eye, then blend in with your ring finger. It puts the least pressure so you won't pull on the skin around your eye so much. Next I used the foundation stick and a concealer brush to cover up any blemishes. Sometimes, I use this all over my face, but today, I just used it as a concealer. Then I swept the translucent powder all over my face with a big face brush.

Next, eyes: Start by putting a primer all over your lid and wherever you will be putting on eyeshadow. So, all the way up to the brow. This will keep your shadow from creasing and it will stay vivid all day. I colored my lid with the HiP cream crayon. It's pictured below so you can pick out something similar. It's a coppery gold sort of color. Second, I took the medium shade from the trio (pictured below) and put it on the inner third of my eye. Next, the darkest shade from the trio on the middle third. Blend as you go. On the outer corner of my eye, I used the Copper mineral shadow. Blend in and soften any harsh edges around your lid. I used the Shell mineral shadow to highlight my brow bone.

Next, line your lids with a black eye liner. I just used the black half of the eyeliner duet. Line your whole top lip and the outer 3/4s of your lower lid. On the inner corner of your lower lid, line that with white. Now, take a small eyeshadow brush and use the copper again, set the black liner on your lower lid. Using the Shell mineral shadow, set the white liner. Curl your lashes and apply mascara.

Apply the blush to the apples of your cheek and sweep upward toward the top of your ear.

I feel like lipstick is self explanitory.

If you'll notice the color of my eyebrow in this pic? Yeah, I wanted to see what it looked like, my natural brows with my pink hair, so I blacked it with mascara. Does not look good....
