Sooo, I tried to get some better pix of Monday's NOTD.



I was sad for you because you didn't get to see the awesomeness of my glittery blue nails. So, I tried taking some more. These are all w/o flash:

NOTD: Monday March 16 2009

For this NOTD, all I really did was add WnW Wild Orchid over my existing nail color (Claire's Rocker Blue). This is two coats of Wild Orchid, a glittery purple. The photos don't pick up the glitter that well. My nails look like the night sky or something. Except a little brighter. It looks pretty cool.

For the manicure today, I picked blue, because it is the boyfriend's favorite color and it was his birthday.

NOTD: Monday March 09 2009

So, I have a lot of drug store polishes. It's basically all I own, but I love looking at swatches from the many polish blogs (see links to the blogs I follow on the left). Once in a while I see a color that I MUST HAVE. Until I graduate and have more money, I'm not going to be able to buy all the polishes I want. So, I'll try to dupe it. I'm not that good at it. Anyway, one such color that I fell in love with at first sight was Dirty Sexy Money from Misa's Living On The Fast Lane collection. Here's a swatch from one of my favorite polish bloggers: ScrangieIsn't her manicure PERFECT? The color is wonderful. It's a delightful dusty teal color. Plus, I loved the show! It's so deliciously ridiculous.

Anyway, I tried to dupe it using the colors below:

My color ended up being too light. Grr, it looked the right color in the mixing dish, then I put it on my nails and it was clearly obvious how light it was... Then I went outside! Oh well. It's a fun color. I am going to try again later, but I'll keep this on for now. Oh, btw, this is two thick coats without a topcoat. And I haven't cleaned it yet.

Note: although my dupe is too light, it isn't as light as it is in the photos. All of them make it look quite a bit whiter than it is.

FOTD: Jan 07 2009

Notice the title? I thought I would upload some old FOTDs since I cannot grace you with new ones. If I used face products, I'm not sure what I used since they are not photographed, but the face seems to look fairly natural in these photos. I used Avon Glimmer Stick in some navy blue color... I think Midnight, perhaps. Then I used ULTA shadows in Sin, a shimmery dark navy, and Pink, shimmery pink. Rimmel Extra Super lash. I used the pink only as a highlight color.

Oh, I love this lipstick. It is by Avon and it is too neat. It is Golden Rose.

Some how this photo came out of it, and it looks rather good. I don't know. Maybe this is another person. Because, frankly, I didn't think I could look like this. It's all about the angle.
I love eyelashes. No seriously, I love eyelashes. All eyelashes. They are so sweet and lovely.

FOTD: Wednesday Dec 24

My Christmas Eve FOTD. I only wore clear mascara today, like yesterday. I wanted to give my lashes a break. Also, to let you all know, I've been trying out Ardell Lash and Brow growth Accelerator lately. I'll do a post on it when I get back to school.

Anyway, products used:
The eyes: I put the color on very lightly, I didn't want a very dark eye today.

Note on the lips: the color in the stick looks red, but it's really a dark pink, I think. I put it on over concealer then blotted and it came out as a lighter pink. Very natural looking for my lips actually; just a dash pinker.

NOTD: Friday Dec 19 GUITAR HERO

So here is basically the greatest mani I've ever done: The Guitar Hero Manicure. (Tim: I bought the green and yellow nail polishes just for you!!!)




These first two colors are so so so sheer. I put four coats for each one. I was disappointed, to say the least. Especially since the other polishes I have from Icing are super pigmented. The other colors are two coats each.





Note: don't you think these Icing polish bottles look a bit like China Glaze bottles? I don't own any CG, so I can't be sure.

Stargirl's New Blue 'Do

Okay, honestly, after I took these photos, I realized that I had blue hair and a red sweater and looked slightly like Thing 1 and Thing 2. C'est la vie. Anyway, I think it looks ridiculously good. Plus I've missed being able to wear red. Some of these photos are silly. Don't know what I was thinking. Enjoy the camwhoring of my fabulous blue hair!!!

I'm wearing a red sweater right now. I look kind of like Thing 1. Or maybe thing 2.




Atomic Pink lasted a ridiculously long time on me. In fact, when I stripped my hair color last night, it took the black out of my roots, but most of the pink was left in. Then I bleached my hair. It still had some pink. My hair must be really fucking porous. Hopefully this will stay in as well. But, maybe not to the extent that I can't get it out of my damn hair.

Why you should use a base and a mixing medium.

Wet'n'Wild Wild Eyes in... ummm Blue and Purple/Pink... yeah. (Names? Dunno.)

Without any base or mixing medium. Huh. Where's the shadow?

Applied WITH base (Mary Kay Signature Eye Primer) and Mixing Medium (homemade. Yes, Tiffany, I got some glycerin. Yes, Tiffany, I will make you some.

Cover Girl Eye Enhancers in ... uh, Green and Dance Pretty (okay, at least I know one name! I need to stop pulling the stickers off. It was an accident!)

Shadows applied side by side. The difference here is not so much the pigmentation (it's only slightly better with the base&medium), but the colors that are brought out! It's really hard to tell in these pictures but that middle shade of pink has a gold shimmer I never even saw before!

Well, what are you waiting for! Go grab those shadows that you thought sucked (well, they still kinda suck. Its nice to have shadows that you don't have to jump through hoops to get color payoff) and try them out! You might find a new favorite color you never knew you had.
