What I Want For Christmas (not beauty related)

Okay, so there are these cats sold on Etsy called "Travel Kitties." You take them where ever you go and you can post pictures of your kitty on this blog. They are made by a mom who wanted to teach her son about geography. Each kitty is hand made and they are all a little different. Each kitty has a different tail because each kitty has a different tale to tell. :-) How cute!!!

New VS Catalog!

I just got the Fall 2008 Victoria's Secret Catalog. It's a casual fall collection filled with plunging necklines, adorable sweaters, and jeans that look GREAT on HER butt in the picture, but probably less so on mine.

In addition is the beauty pages! Did you know VS carries DuWop? I didn't before a few minutes ago. This catalog features DuWop Prime Venom: "a plumping lip balm that provides a matte finish and also works as a primer." I don't know about you, but I absolutely adore DuWop Lip Venom. Maybe Santa will bring me a Benet's gift card for Christmas. Benet's is a store in downtown Greenville that carries NARS, DuWop, Lorac, and other high end brands. Or maybe Santa will bring me a VS gift card so I can check out more of their items. Like the Beauty Rush brand! I love it! I have one lip gloss which is a little sticky, but the color is lovely and I WANT MORE. Beauty Rush also carries cream eyeshadows that I'd love to try.

There is also this brand I've never heard of: Global Goddess. The Tribal Quad Eyeshadow palettes are gorgous and come in Arusha (browns), Eldoret(pinks), or Mombasa(blues and greens). The Chai Cheek Color in Mikrik is described as a coral shade but it appears to be a raspberry in the catalog. On the website it looks properly coral. A beautiful pearly shade. There is also the Goddess Glow South Pacific Shimmer. The compact has gold bronze and shimmery nude with a neat silver pattern. There is also a Lip Veil in Casbah, and I'm a sucker for lip glosses. It's a shimmery pinkish gold... which happens to be my favorite color combo. Pink with gold shimmer... oooh always wonderful.

I've wanted to do for quite a while is try and make my own makeup. I'm getting a lot of stuff for X-mas, but I thought I'd get some samples and try it out on my own. So, I decided, when I get paid, I'd buy some sample ingredients to experiment with.

Guess what! I got paid!!! From TKB Trading, I got the Pop! Mica Sampler ($9) and the Metallic Collection Sampler ($5.4). I may get a couple things from Coastal Scents, too. They have samplers for the fillers and additives and for the oxides that are about $10 each. I'll post a haul when I get them in and then show some of my experiments.





These are the Coastal Scents oxide and filler sampler sets. I don't have any pix for the TKB stuff I got because their pix are messing up right now. I'll take my own pix and post them when it comes in.

Haul Pt1: Coastal Scents

On Wednesday I got the most amazing surprise. A ton of the stuff I'd ordered had come in!!!! Yay! So, I'll be doing some haul posts. I've also tried out some of the products so I'll be doing some mini-reviews. Not really a full review, because I'd only tried it out once or twice.

--I haven't used any of these yet, but I got these for mixing the mineral foundation samples I got and for loose eye shadows. I love the L.A. Colors loose eyeshadow, but I hate the container. I got the idea from ChicJade.



78 Piece Makeup Palette -- $21.98
This thing is pure amazing. I love it! The colors are so pigmented! I've used it a couple times and the colors are great. You can just pack the colors on for a real bold look, but there's also a bunch of neutrals too! It comes with 60 dime sized eye shadows, 12 rectangular eye shadows, and 6 blushes. The colors are separated into 6 color families. Here is a review by EnKore Makeup. Great review.


Brushes
Once again, they sent me a great draw string bag. All the brushes were inside of this orange bag. They all have an odor to them and you could see a lot of dye come out when you wash it. Other than that, they're great. Very very soft! I won't review them individually too much now, because I've only used them once or twice each. But I'll say a couple things.
1) The stippling brush: the white part is incredibly soft. Softest brush I own. Feels like pony hair. The black part is definitely goat. Of all the CS brushes, this one bled the most.
2) The Pink Sable and the Deluxe Buffer brush are shorties, but they've got good heft to them. They also bled, but not as much.
3) I love the lip brush! I used to to put on some Zalan lip stain. The color went on very nicely. The brush is packed firm.
4) I haven't used the eye brush, but I hear great things about it. EmilyNoel83 has a great tutorial on using this brush for doing a whole eye look, instead of using an eyeshadow brush, a crease brush, a blending, etc etc etc.

E-Bay and Coastal Scents Mini Hauls

I ordered a couple brushes and some samples from Coastal Scents and they're in! Yay!!!! I'm totally going to order there again.

Everything came in this really cute little pink bag. I've unwrapped the brushes but I put everything back in to show you.


These are the two mineral powder foundation samples I ordered, $2 a piece: Silk Cover Light 1.2 and Medium 1.2 Mineral Foundation and then a free eyeshadow in Funk Shadow that they gave me! It's a BEAUTIFUL sparkly aubergine.

I've never used any eye primers before, I on E-Bay, I got two. Mary Kay Signature Eye Primer(above) and Claudia Stevens Eye Primer (below).

Haul Pt.5: Mental Floss

Also, when I picked up my mail, there was a package from Mental Floss! Yaaaayyy!!!! I had ordered to very geeky, very appropriate shirts for next semester. Next semester, I'll be taking genetics. So, Mental Floss has this shirt I've wanted for soooo long and it was the perfect time to order it.


I can't wait to wear it to the first day of class!


Secondly, I'm a psych major. This shirt will be appropriate every day!

Haul Pt.4: The Garment District

A week or so ago, I purchased some stuff from The Garment District. Well, it came in today!!! Yayyyy!!! I'm totally stoked.

My Haul:




First: Jerome Russell's Punky Bleach Kit. I picked up the 40 vol. (30 vol. pictured.)It comes with a tint brush, plastic gloves, peroxide, and bleach pack. I've bleached my hair before, don't worry! I just have to wait for the Color Zap to come in to strip out the black in my hair.





The two colors I picked up were Special Effects Atomic Pink and Wildflower. If you're ever going to color your hair a funky color, USE SPECIAL EFFECTS! They come out the brightest and stay the longest. It's super easy to use, you just might turn your bathtub a little purple. Don't worry! It comes out!




Also, they sent me a bumper sticker! How nice! :-) I'm going to put it on the new white table I snagged that someone was about to toss. (The pictures of my products on the white plastic table? That's it.)
