FOTD: Friday March 13 2009

Simple FOTD today. Only 5 products (Avon mascara not pictured)

I used the gold all over the lid. Used the dark green in the outer V. Outer 2/3 of lower lash line lined in dark green, inner 1/3 lined in gold. Pale green in inner corner. That pale green is super pale, because you can hardly see it in the pix.

Only the ELF lipgloss in Candlelight.

Then, I decided my face was a bit too shimmery (that Almay has a hint of shimmer) so I used this Avon loose powder all over my face to mattify it.

It also served to warm up my face a bit

No Makeup Days...

Emily Noel from Beauty Broadcast recently asked why we wear makeup everyday and how you feel when you don't wear make up. Does it make you feel good? Do you have to wear makeup (she's a news anchor, so she does!)

Here are the questions:

On days when you don't wear makeup do you fear that someone will see you and think, wow, she needs to put on some makeup!

Sometimes I think that. I was going to say "no" but, seeing as having a full face gives me confidence and a boost, I suppose it's because I know I look good. When I don't know that, I suppose I am self-conscious about what other people think!

What are your reasons for putting on makeup everyday?

I definitely feel a little naked if I don't have SOME makeup on. At the very very least, I'll put on mascara and lip gloss. I normally don't have time in the morning to do any fancy eye looks, but I make sure that I at least have some face makeup. It just makes everything look so much neater and nicer.

Does your job require it?

Seeing as I'm a student and my only job is work study, my job certainly doesn't require it. I've never had a job that, like Emily's, would require it.

Does it make you feel good?

It really does. I feel more put together and it gives me a little pick-me-up when I know I look good.

Are you trying to impress someone?

No, not really. I just like feeling pretty :-) I don't do it for anyone but ME!

If you haven't checked out Emily's blog, do so NOW! She also does videos on youtube. She gives excellent reviews and tutorials.

FOTD: Thursday March 05 2009

So, I only photographed two of the products I used, because everything else is the stuff I use everyday. This is Almay's intense-i-color mascara in purple and ELF eyeshadow in Silver Lining. You actually cannot see the purple in the mascara at all. Boo.
And it's not just in the photos, it's in real life.
I love my lashes:

My lipstick looks a little messed up here. Oh well.

NOTD: Monday March 09 2009

So, I have a lot of drug store polishes. It's basically all I own, but I love looking at swatches from the many polish blogs (see links to the blogs I follow on the left). Once in a while I see a color that I MUST HAVE. Until I graduate and have more money, I'm not going to be able to buy all the polishes I want. So, I'll try to dupe it. I'm not that good at it. Anyway, one such color that I fell in love with at first sight was Dirty Sexy Money from Misa's Living On The Fast Lane collection. Here's a swatch from one of my favorite polish bloggers: ScrangieIsn't her manicure PERFECT? The color is wonderful. It's a delightful dusty teal color. Plus, I loved the show! It's so deliciously ridiculous.

Anyway, I tried to dupe it using the colors below:
These are the same colors I used to make Xanadu, my gray color

My color ended up being too light. Grr, it looked the right color in the mixing dish, then I put it on my nails and it was clearly obvious how light it was... Then I went outside! Oh well. It's a fun color. I am going to try again later, but I'll keep this on for now. Oh, btw, this is two thick coats without a topcoat. And I haven't cleaned it yet.

Note: although my dupe is too light, it isn't as light as it is in the photos. All of them make it look quite a bit whiter than it is.

We're calling this color: Parisian

Outside--Sunlight

Inside--Fluorescent
